Our Story
With over 40 years of experience in the broadcast industry my Grandfather, Joe Barton and I, have built and maintained countless Radio and Television studios, production systems, and transmitter sites.
We’ve worked alongside some of the most reputable manufacturers and distributors across the globe. We helped roll out new systems that brought HD television to hundreds of thousands of homes, as well as innovations in radio such as RDS and Hybrid Digital systems.
We’ve seen proprietary Chyron graphics machines used by the NFL up close and personal. We’ve set up live broadcasts from AT&T Stadium in Arlington and built 200 watt FM stations in small farm towns.
When I think back, there was never a challenge we didn’t rise to. We’ve built this company on the back of undeniable experience and that foundation grows stronger every day.
A Little History
My grandfather served the United States Navy and studied as an electronics engineer. He spent his time on an aircraft carrier maintaining and repairing radar and targeting systems on jet aircrafts as well as a range of other security systems. He managed to keep and copy his entire curriculum which he eventually passed down to me, but more on that later.
After he got out, he started chasing trons back on homeland soil. Repairing and maintaining basically anything that plugged into a wall. After working miscellaneous jobs he landed in the broadcast industry at a local TV station as an engineer where would build his career, climb the ranks and be offered the chief engineer title and position, which he declined! He was satisfied with the assistant chief position and went on to retire.
Back track almost 15 years, like I mentioned before, he passed his naval curriculum down to me. I studied electronics theory in its entirety and apprenticed under my grandfather. I dropped out of high-school and got my GED so that I could fast track my way to a bench technician position at the local TV station where he worked.
He continued to help further my education and expertise. On the day of his retirement I fulfilled the assistant chief engineer position becoming the youngest in our market. I reached further and secured certificates with compTIA, Triveni Digital, and even a digital forensics certificate backed by the department of homeland security and FEMA.
In hindsight, dropping out probably wasn’t the best move, but I’ve always been a self driven individual and chasing down knowledge and certifications on my own terms was much more exhilarating.
The Year the World Changed
Late 2019 the world was struck by an unforeseen event that changed billions of lives, including ours. Businesses across the world were closing their doors, corporations were laying off employees by the masses and travel became near impossible in most circumstances.
I was met with a certain set of obstacles that would affect my family and our future if I didn’t act.
I decided to launch my own company built on the back of decades of experience between my grandfather and I. My grandfather came out of retirement and together we launched Tron Chasers LLC, providing Broadcast Engineering as a contracted service.
Since then we have worked alongside affiliates of FOX, NBC, ABC and more. As well as NPR, Town Square Media, Cumulus Media, Kingdom Keys, and a handful of independently owned Radio stations.
While the world was falling apart we used the pieces to build something great. We take pride in what we do, and we hope the value we provide serves you all well.
